On Thursday morning, Cornhusker Boys’ and Girls’ State were pleased to welcome Dr. Ben Sasse, President of Midlands University and former United States Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Mark Intermill, Associate Director of AARP Nebraska, to a forum on federal healthcare reform moderated by Jon Vanderford of 10/11 News. Both men presented their views on the Affordable Care Act and what will happen in the future as a result of the legislation. Delegates from both Boys’ and Girls’ State asked questions about topics such as the effect it will have on local businesses and about new federal mandates. We are pleased to note that Sasse is a Cornhusker Boys’ State alumnus and Intermill’s daughter and Vanderford’s wife Taryn are Cornhusker Girls’ State alumnae.
