Today, the delegates at Boys’ State engaged in a “Courageous Conversation About Race” session at Hawks Hall. The interactive session was an encouraging discussion about leadership and valuing the contributions and experiences of others. The students were encouraged to move out of their comfort zone and grow relationships and understanding with people of different cultural backgrounds. The speakers were the former Mayor of Lincoln, Don Wesely, Judi Gaiabshkibos of the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs, and Thomas Christie of Lincoln Public Schools.
