The city of Bunker Hill kicked off its first school board meeting of the year, and boy did people turn up. On the agenda were topics such as a cell phone ban in school and drug testing for participation in extracurriculars. Public comment centered on the cell phone ban which saw multiple “parents” show concern about reaching their students at school. Eventually, the board amended the policy to allow keeping phones but include disciplinary action for disruptive use in the classroom, and passed the amended policy making it the first broad policy on personal technology in the district.
