On Wednesday, the 83rd Session of the Boys State Legislature began with the formation of committees and hearing on the over 100 bills submitted by the students. Committees organized, discussed the merits of the bill, and made recommendations for future amendments. The priority bills will soon be debated on the Legislature floor.

The 83rd Legislative Session of Cornhusker Boys State kicked off by all 49 Legislators being sworn in. They sprung into action by electing the Speaker of the Legislature, Clerk, Assistant Clerk, Chaplain & Sergant At Arms. Soon after they assigned committee spots – electing committee chairs & secretaries. These Legislators are dedicated to Boys State & look forward to delivering legislative success, for the betterment of the state!
Members of the Cornhusker Boys State Legislature were elected Sunday night during town elections. The 2024 session convened on Monday afternoon and started with the election of leadership from among the 49-member model unicameral. Speaker of the Legislature Nikolai Khots of Omaha (Elkhorn South) was elected after three rounds of voting. The body also elected Clerk of the Legislature Nicholas Li of Lincoln (Lincoln East), Assistant Clerk of the Legislature James Heyne of Lincoln (Lincoln Pius X), Sergeant-at-Arms Esten Hyde of Auburn, and Chaplain Luke Bartlett of Elkhorn (Elkhorn High). Congratulations to our 2024 leadership!
The Cornhusker Boys’ State Unicameral Legislature held its Friday session in the historic Warner Chambers of the Nebraska State Capitol. The experience is a highlight of their week, holding their final session in this grand setting.
The last full day of Cornhusker Boys’ State includes a trip to the state capitol for the Boys State Unicameral Legislature. Traditionally, sessions are held in the historic Warner Chambers. Due to construction in 2022, the session was held in Hearing Room 1525.
