Delegates Arrive for 72nd Session of Cornhusker Boys’ State

Earlier this afternoon, young men from across the state of Nebraska arrived at Harper Hall on the University of Nebraska Lincoln campus to participate in the 72nd annual session of Cornhusker Boys’ State. These delegates bring their diverse backgrounds and interests to the table in hopes of creating a stable state government and having rewarding personal experiences. Upon arrival, delegates were ushered to the opening ceremonies held at Kimball Hall on the UNL campus.

The opening ceremonies consisted of several brief speeches, but began with the ceremonial bell that opens and closes each session of Cornhusker Boys’ State. Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale delivered the Welcome Message, followed by the swearing in of Cornhusker Boys’ State Governor Doug Larsen and his address to new delegates. Afterward, Lucas Fricke presented his experiences at the American Legion’s 2011 Boys’ Nation in Washington D.C. to the delegates who are all candidates for the same honor this year.
