Justices Inaugurated by Honorable Mike Heavican

On Thursday evening, United States District Judge Mike Heavican paid a visit to Cornhusker Boys’ State to talk about the judicial system in the state of Nebraska, and also to administer the oath of office to the Boys’ State Supreme Court Chief Justice, who then gave the oath to other justices. Delegates had the opportunity to askHeavican questions, though at many points, he asked the delegates their own questions, curious how they would handle the scenarios they inquired about.

Governor Dave Heineman Addresses Joint Session of Boys’ and Girls’ State

After a rousing concert performed by the Boys’ State / Girls’ State band and chorus, the honorable Governor Dave Heineman addressed a joint session of Cornhusker Boys’ and Girls’ State in one of his final appearances as Nebraska’s Governor. He rallied Husker camaraderie by voicing his support and enthusiasm for the coming football and volleyball seasons in the Big Ten Conference. Nebraska Huskers football coach Bo Pelini made an appearance, as did Nebrasketball assistant coach Jim Molinari.

While the citizens of Cornhusker Boys’ State were being educated by the Chief Justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court, Mike Heavican, a challenge was issued by Louisiana Boys’ State (@LABoysState) The tweet, below, challenges Kansas Boys’ State, Cornhusker Boys’ State, and Alabama Boys’ State on who has the best Boys’ State program.
