Motions, Seconds, and Votes! City Councils and School Boards Hold First Meetings
City and School Boards held their inaugural meetings at Cornhusker Boys’ State. The mock government simulation allowed them to practice the duties and responsibilities of their offices. Delegates engaged in spirited debate about the issues of the day and passed many local laws and policies. The topics range from serious issues ripped from the headlines to fun local ordinances to enhance their town’s culture. The government simulation runs throughout the week. Thank you to the local attorneys who helped guide delegates through the experience.

Staters from Bataan finished up their last basketball game of pool play, concluding the regular season portion of Boys State. Ending with a 1-2 record they will proceed to the 5th/6th place game.

Basketball moved outside today for their third and final regular-season games. Gettysburg and Manila Bay finished undefeated and will play for the championship, while Alamo and Yorktown entered their games needing wins to challenge for a spot in the 3rd and 4th place games; both brought home the victory, with Alamo narrowly winning in a 10-7 victory. Bataan and Bunker Hill will play in the 5th and 6th place game. Belleau Wood and Valley Forge continued their struggle, but they will get a chance to play each other for their first win of the week.

Town members took turns delivering their pitches while others provided constructive feedback and encouragement. The session covered candidates running for various positions, from Governor to Sheriff.
